		<description>You are correct.    If the heatlh care surrogate act provides for a person who is willing and able to make the decisions - this can be a good option on the health care side of things.   Unfortunately, it isn&#039;t any help if they need assistance with finances.</description>

I am wondering, though, about another option I have implemented with older adults (I&#039;m a SNF social worker) who are no longer able to appoint a Power of Attorney for Healthcare of their choosing (due to diminished cognitive abilities) and that is a Health Care Surrogate. At least for the healthcare side of things, this avoids having to go the guardianship route.</description>
